For all of you that have been requesting this post and my dear friends that has happily encouraged it (every time they come visit) here goes a quick but efficient guide to Shanghai best places to eat, shop and hang around.

Well let's go straight to the point - everyone's favourite hobby in Shanghai is to get together to eat or for drinks. 

So let's start with that... 

Shanghai best eats:

Commune Social on 511 Jiangning road near Kangding road. Best food, best environment, best deco, best terrace, best design, best everything...

Franck on Ferguson Lane. 376 Wukang road near Tai'an road. The other best one alongside with Commune Social. Great food. Great wine. Great place. Mandarin here.

Table no 1 at the Waterhouse Hotel on 1-3 Maojiayuan road near Zhongshan nan road. Short menu but just delicious. Take a drink in the terrace upstairs before dinner on a hot night and another at the lounge after. Address in mandarin here.

Liquid Laundry on 1028 Huaihai road 2nd floor near Donghu road (mandarin here). For brunch or party dinner. 

Hakkasan on the famous Bund 18, 5th floor Zhongshan Dong Yi road near Nanjing Dong road (mandarin here). Chinese food taken to another level.

Mr. Willis on 195, 3rd floor Anfu road near Wulumuqi (mandarin here). Cozy environment and good food. Great for both brunch and dinner.

Pure&Whole. Best vegan/vegetarian. (www.pureandwhole.com

Green & Safe on Dongping road near Hangshan road (mandarin here). Favourite for brunch.

El Willy on south Bund 22, 5th floor Zhongshan road near Xinyong'an road (mandarin here). Best spanish restaurant in town. Great views!

Dr. Wine on 177 Fumin road (mandarin here). As the name says... for some wine!

Mercato on the Bund 3, 6th floor Zhongshan Dong Yi road near Guangdong road (mandarin here). Italian concept by celebrity chef Jean Georges. Great views!

Saffron on 21 Dongping road near Hengshan road (mandarin here). Best Indian food!

Lost Heaven on 38 Gaoyou road near Fuxing Xi road (mandarin here). Yunnan folk cuisine. One of the local food favourites.

Sichuan Citizen on 30 Donghu road (mandarin here). For the Sichuan food and the best basil drops that you can't absolutely miss.

Ramen shop on Shanxi road. Try to find it!

Kyu Tarou our private place! A very small Japanese restaurant on Fumin Road almost in front of Dr. Wine.

Bankura another tiny Japanese with amazing food on 344 Changle road near Ruijin road (mandarin here).

Shintori on 803 Julu road near Fumin road (mandarin here).

Sushi Raku at Reel mall. 1601 Nanjing road in front of Jing'an temple (mandarin here). With a lovely terrace to sit outside on the sunny days.

Shanghai night out:

Le Baron on 20, 7th floor Donghu road (mandarin here). Opened last fall by Swedish-Portuguese graffiti artist André Saraiva.

Ocho on Fuxing road. It's a hidden bar! Find it!

Magpie on 189 Yongkang road. The loveliest small Chinese cocktail bar in town hidden down the street.

Lola on Surpass court (mandarin here). Closing soon! Looking for a new location in Shanghai and opening now in South Korea.

Monkey Champagne on 38 Donghu road (mandarin here). For some real Hip-Hop dancing!

Mao Livehouse. The coolest concerts in town (mao-music.com)

Senator Saloon on 98 Wuyuan road (mandarin here).

Shanghai best shopping:

Lane Crawford Shanghai at Times Square (mandarin here).

Xinle Road. For small boutiques and a nice stroll around.

MHT on 564 Chang Le road (www.mianhuatian.com)

Initial

on Xinle road and other locations around the city. This is a very interesting Hong Kong brand you should definitely take a look at.

Reel

mall on Nanjing road. The place to find the best brands: AcneStudios, Helmut Lang, Yohji Yamamoto, Limi Feu, Stella McCartney, Marni,...
